    Berrong
    Trish Berrong
    PRODUCTION DIRECTOR

Trish has improv t-shirts older than any of the Operation: Show! players and most of the coaches. These days, she performs with Ham Kitty, voted Pitch's Best Improv/Sketch troupe for 2017, and the current Underground Throwdown record-holders. Along with performing, she has been super bossy-pants over the years: founding the Lighten Up Improv Co., running stuff for the KC Improv Festival, and teaching and directing all over KC. She likes learning, too: Trish has studied with awesome directors like Del Close, Mick Napier, David Razowsky, BassProv, Susan Messing, Jill Bernard, Michael Gellman, and TJ Jagodowski at places like The Second City, Annoyance Theater, and iO Improv.

In 2012, she co-founded Seriously Playful with Clayton Ingram. She currently performs regularly with Pretty.Funny. - an all-female sketch comedy and improv troupe. Once her kids are older, she looks forward to performing more with different groups around the city. She owns Green Room Burgers & Beer in Westport with her husband, Michael. She also manages Westport Coffeehouse and the Westport Coffeehouse Theater, AKA the Kick Comedy Theater, home of the KC Improv Company. She has 2 kids, Edith (born 2014) and Arthur (born 2016).

    Welch
    Suzanne Welch
    STUDENT/TEACHER DIRECTOR
Suzanne Welch has been described as the “adult” of Seriously Playful. She credits her ability to wrangle improvisers to her years teaching college students. In addition to teaching, Suzanne worked in development at a local non-profit and spent several years serving on a multi-state educational board. While Suzanne is not an improviser, she is married to one (which makes her an expert, right?!). She has also written and performed for a local arts group, but is currently focused on the hardest job ever, raising the cutest baby ever (according to several Operation: Show! Players).

Anna Smith has been the improv coach for Center High School since 2013. She has a bachelor's degree in theatre from the University of Kansas, and is a professional improviser and sketch writer at both ComedyCity and the KC Improv Company. She is also a standup comedian, having performed shows across the midwest, and has a filmed standup special that can be found online through IX Productions, but umm maybe don't tell the students about it. Anna is also a Teaching Artist with The Coterie, one of the leading theatres in KC. In her free time, she creates comedy projects such as the "Don't Take Our Word For It" podcast and the Smuddy Variety Hour. She loves helping build the creativity and self-esteem of the O:S! students through the magic of improv, and she is definitely not just in it for the free pizza parties at the end of the school year...

Comedy City

COMEDYCITY

The good folks at ComedyCity have hosted Operation: Show! since we started.

ComedyCity is the longest running improv comedy show in Kansas City. Since 1987, they've kept people, companies, groups, and the occasional small animal laughing with their competitive improv shows. Players have gone on to perform with professional groups like Second City and iO, and to become people like Jason Sudeikis.

See ComedyCity shows every Friday and Saturday at 7 and 9:30pm. Tickets are available at their website or by calling 816-842-2744.

Operation: Show! players all get free admission to any ComedyCity performance—and can bring a friend! So now is your chance to make friends and see free shows.
